Fred C. Doppler and Sons, Inc. is a full-service remodeling company that has been serving Northwest Indiana for over 70 years. We can handle all jobs from major additions to minor repairs; we install asphalt roofs, repair slate roofs, waterproof basements, and everything in between.
Our Story
Fred C. Doppler came to America from Switzerland in 1919, and after a stint as a vaudevillian performing with his German Shepherd dog Horst, he met and married his wife and settled down to a life as a carpenter, starting a family tradition that would extend for generations. He was the founder of Fred C. Doppler & Sons, Inc.
The "and sons" were his sons Fred, Chuck and Tom. In time, Chuck went his own way, but Fred and Tom continued in the family business till their retirements. Fred, Sr., still well-remembered and beloved in the community, passed his share of the company to Fred Jr. when he retired. On the later retirement of his Uncle Tom, Fred Jr. assumed full ownership and control of the company, and began to put his own stamp on the business.
Today, the company is on its 4th generation of Dopplers, running a roofing crew and several carpenter crews. Our mission is to meet all the remodeling and roofing needs of Northwest Indiana, both residential and commercial. Fred has sought out and deals with an Indiana manufacturer of top-quality replacement windows, and partners with the finest subcontractors in the plumbing, electrical and masonry trades to assure excellence in the work they do for our customers.
In addition to remodeling, we specialize in the design and building of room additions, both ground-level and second-story bump-ups, leading to our slogan: "Don’t Move – Improve!"
